BMS Battery Management System Explained

The acronym BMS refers to Battery Management System, an electronic device designed to regulate and ensure safe operation and optimal performance of rechargeable batteries. The system consists of physical and digital components that work together to continuously monitor and maintain battery status. The hardware components contain various sensing units, voltage regulators and other components necessary to track and manage key parameters of the battery.  The software aspect of the BMS works in harmony with the aforementioned hardware elements to collect detector readings, process complex equations, and control battery operation accordingly.  BMS plays an important role in various fields such as electric vehicles, sustainable energy systems and consumer goods, where battery operation is an important component.
